BOTOX®

One of the most popular cosmetic treatments of all time, BOTOX® Cosmetic injections can help you look young again by erasing the wrinkles, creases, and fine lines that gradually appear as you age. Men and women around the world turn to BOTOX as their go-to anti-aging solution. For enhanced results, you can have BOTOX and cosmetic filler treatments such as Juvéderm® performed at the same time.

How It Works

At Westwind Cosmetic & Laser Center in El Paso, Texas, Dr. Mina Haidarian uses her gentle touch to inject BOTOX Cosmetic into the areas to be treated. This simple non-surgical procedure improves the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and more for up to six months.

BOTOX works by blocking the nerve impulses to the injected muscles, thus reducing muscle activity that causes persistent lines to form on the face and neck. It is FDA-approved and widely used by both men and women who want to smooth, reduce, and temporarily eliminate facial wrinkles in as little as 10 minutes. BOTOX has been safely and therapeutically used for over 15 years for a variety of medical conditions.

FAQs

What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time.

It is administered as a simple, non-surgical treatment that is injected directly into the muscles between the brows. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form between the brows.
What happens during a BOTOX® treatment?
BOTOX Cosmetic is injected around deep expression lines of the forehead and bridge of nose, crow’s feet, lip lines or droopy brows, cheeks, corner of the mouth, or neck that are caused by overactive muscles of expression and those muscles that pull down the face, also known as the facial depressors.

The BOTOX Cosmetic treatment takes about 15 to 30 minutes to perform. BOTOX Cosmetic injections can be performed with topical anesthetic cream to reduce the mild skin discomfort of the procedure.

Most clients return to work immediately after treatment with little to no discoloration or only slight bruising that will disappear quickly or can be camouflaged with make-up. The muscle is relaxed over a period of several days and the expression lines soften dramatically, becoming less noticeable.
How long does it take to see results from a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment?
Within days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate-to-severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to 30 days, and results can last for up to 4 months.
How long will a BOTOX® treatment last?
Results usually last for 3 to 6 months.
Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you’ve “had work done.”

The muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is temporarily reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.
Is treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic painful?
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Prior to an injection, Dr. Haidarian may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Most patients are in and out of the physician’s office without downtime following BOTOX Cosmetic treatment.

Side effects associated with the injection include localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising.
